Reflections from my Acting class

In the final quarter of my final year at UCLA, I took an acting class. For a while, whenever I hangout with friends and mention “btw I’m in an acting class now”, their immediate reaction was always: “Ok. So now you’re in a restaurant, and you’re getting broken up with. Go!”

I had to hold their horses and explain like a little nerd: “No um actually, a real actor doesn't work like this!” Then I invited them to our final performance and demonstrated what I meant.

After the finale we had to submit a reflection paper as part of our grades. The prompt was “reflect on the three pillars of this class: authenticity, self-devised work, assigned scene work.” Good thing this gave me a perfect excuse to pour my nerdy ideas out.

Fun fact: this reflection was written entirely with PaperHouse! I spent 15 min outside Bonsai Cafe walking around the neighborhood just speaking to my phone. Then I spent 10 more min on the laptop making some edits, and boom submitted the paper. YES YES PaperHouse is a genuinely useful app. People will realize that sooner or later.
